See you in the Park!
We understand that asking for donations, especially at this time, may be difficult, and there are a number of other issues in our world that demand attention as well, but for us, this will be an ongoing and long term process of clean-up and replanting and renewal.
We hope that you can grow with us.
Please if you can, (when you can), consider donating to our efforts to keep the park the wonderful place that it is. We are accepting donations here on our website, (or by cash or check made to Friends of Jefferson Square at 328 Federal St). All funds will be used for clean up, new programming and new plantings.
Friends of Jefferson Square Park is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
Your donation goes to support us in maintaining and beautifying the park for all neighbors to enjoy
The Friends foster a community awareness of the park, its history and its treasures. The Friends encourage positive use of the park and seek to make the park a common ground for the diverse community that surrounds it.
We host band concerts, outdoor movies, flea markets and volunteer cleanups. Additionally, we’ve provided new benches and wastebaskets, the restoration of water service to the park, the installation of 10 new trees, the removal of dead trees, landscaping, and the installation of cast iron urns on the corner entrance pillars.
Past and current initiatives we’ve participated in with other local groups to improve the park include the Philadelphia Parks Revitalization Project and Philadelphia Green.
Dating back to the first half of the 19th century when the area was known as Southwark, the park has served as a military camp, parade grounds, beer garden, flea market, and more.
